We're throwing a party tomorrow. Our town has a festival going on (just a few blocks away) and we will be going there, but tomorrow we're hosting a get together with mainly David's coworkers and their families. We hope the party will be over in time for us to catch part of the concert at the festival and then see the fireworks. All our guests are invited to join us there, and some are planning to come by in the morning to park & then head down there to spend the day enjoying the rides, games, music, and other activities before coming back here to hang out. This thing started as a "small, low key get together" and now has gotten a little bigger. The menu is planned, the shopping lists are made, David is going to one store this afternoon, and we'll hit the rest tomorrow morning. The house is semi-straight, I still need to straighten up the living room & breakfast area, mop the kitchen, and clean both bathrooms. Then I'll get cooking! We're having:
- hamburgers
- hotdogs
- baked beans
- pineapple casserole
- chips, dips, etc. (I'm skipping the potato salad this time!)
- layer salad
- brownies
- pound cake
- peach ice cream (homemade)
- we've got a big tub of vanilla ice cream on hand in case there's not enough peach, or if someone wants sundaes instead
- freezer pops (for the kids, just in case)
- fruit tray
- margaritas, beer, a variety of cokes, probably a few other beverages thrown in
I think that covers it. Hopefully everything will taste so good we won't have anything leftover, cause this is NOT a diet friendly party. For one day I don't care, but I don't want cake, brownies, and ice cream left over!
